Presentation of the book “Municipalities and Guide on municipality elections” was held

On December 05, 2009, at the office of “Legal Help” Public Union, located in Lankaran city, was arranged presentation of the book “Municipalities and Guide on municipality elections” published in the frame of project “Elections and Human Rights”, by the financial aid of the National Endowment of Democracy (NED), by the “Legal Help” Public Union.
Consisting of 4 chapters the book’s volume is 185 pages. The book is devoted to expected municipality elections that will take place this year in Azebaijan Republic, as well as establishment of local municipality organs, their development history, activity and structure. more

New publication of “Legal Help” public union: “Municipalities and Guide on municipality elections” book is published

On November 27, 2009 “Municipalities and Guide on municipality elections” book of “Legal Help” public union was published within the “Elections and Human Rights” project, financed by the National Endowment for Democracy Fund.
Consisting of 4 chapters the book’s volume is 185 pages. The book is devoted to expected municipality elections that will take place this year in Azebaijan Republic, as well as establishment of local municipality organs, their development history, activity and structure. Financial-economic basis of local municipalities, municipality property and legal routine of its management, accounting in municipalities, legal basis of municipality elections were reflected in the book. Along with explanation of main Laws on municipality activity, standard-law statements and practical materials also presented to readers. more

“Legal Help” PU held meetings with youth, members and representatives of municipalities in the region

During September - October of 2009 “Legal Help” PU held meetings on “Municipality elections” for youth, as well as members and representatives of local municipalities in Vilvan, Zovla, Girdani, Garmaturk, Kanarmesha municipalities of Lankaran district, Pensar and Siyaku villages of Astara district and Badalan and Arkivan village municipalities of Masalli district within the “Elections and Human Rights” project. There were 15-20 participants in each meeting. Municipality members and youth groups were given detailed information about essence of municipality elections, participation rules, legal document preparation skills of candidates to participate at the election and etc. more

“Legal Help” public union held two seminars within the “Elections and Human Rights” projects financed by the National Endowment for Democracy Fund on August 20 of 2009 at Lankaran office of “Transparency-Azerbaijan” International Anti-corruption public union, and on August 21 of 2009 at Lankaran city municipality for district’s youth, members and represenatatives of different local municipality organs, as well as NGO leaders. The topic of the seminars was “Municipality elections”.
The main goal of the project is to implement enlightenment events about municipality elections and human rights for local municipality organs, public unions and inviduals directly involved in human rights issues, teaching of local, regional and international mechanisms of human rights protection, preparation of young human rights defendors in the south region (within the area of Lankaran, Astara and Masalli districts) of the Azerbaijan Republic. more

“Legal Help” PA held the the next seminar-training for the delegations of the local municipality and the leader of NGO

In 25.07.09 “Legal Help” PA held one-day training in its office, financial by NED within the project elections and “human rights,” the theme “elections municipality”for the delegations of different local municipality organizations of the district and the leader of NGO. 20 delegations took part in this training. The main aim of this project: the local municipality organization located in the south of the Azerbaijan Republic(the districts Lankaran, Astara and Masalli) for public unions and personalities who are busy with human rights municipality elections, main goal of the seminar was to held enlightenment event about human rights for interested organizations and individuals, directly for teachers and students, teaching of local, regional and international mechanisms of human rights protection, training of young human rights protectors and assisting them with networking. more

On 11.06.2009, the “Legal Help” public union held the one-day training for the Youth of the South region of Azerbaijan Republic on “Enlightening on Human Rights” project financed by National Endowment for Democracy Foundation in the office of “German Technical Assistance Foundation” (GTZ) regional office located in Lankaran district. More than 20 representatives of the Youth of region have participated in the training.

On 03.06.2009, the “Legal Help” public union held the one-day training for the representatives of local 3-rd sector of the South Region of Azerbaijan Republic on “Enlightening on Human Rights” project financed by National Endowment for Democracy Foundation in the office of “Transparency-Azerbaijan” International Anticorruption Public Union regional office located in Lankaran district.
More than 10 representatives of local NGOs have participated in the training. more

 On 12. 23. 2008, the “Legal Help” public union held the first one-day training for the students of Humanitarian faculty of Lankaran State University on “Defending Human Rights and Building Civil Society” project financed by National Endowment for Democracy.
More than 70 students have participated in the training. Next edition of the Public Union “Legal Help” has been published – book concerning “Guide on human and citizens rights and freedoms”

On December 22, 2008, has been published book concerning “Guide on human and citizens rights and freedoms” in the frame of project enlightening human rights implemented by the financial aid of the National Endowment of Democracy (NED) by the Public Union “Legal Help” to support human and citizens rights and freedoms. Book is in the volume of 160 pages with consisting of 4 chapters. Book has been devoted to local, regional and international norms of human and citizens rights and freedoms and mechanisms of to be protected. In this book also has been represented commentaries of the norms addressed the practice most of the local and international legislation practical materials, acts of other legislation concerned to these norms given to the attention of reader. more

 “Legal Help” PU held “International Human Rights Day” event

On December 10, 2008 “Legal Help” public union held “International Human Rights Day” training for NGO representatives, lawyers and students within its “Enlightenment on Human Rights” project, financed by the Naitonal Endowment for Democracy (NED) Foundation, in the Lankaran office of the “Transparency International Azerbaijan” fight against corruption PU. 20 representatives from third sector participated in the event.
The main goal of the training was to provide information for participants about “World Human Rights Declaration”, due to its 60th anniversary and to explain internatinal mechanisms of human rights protection. more

“Legal Help” PU held the traning on the rules of applying to European Court

On aprel 14, “Legal Help” PU held the training for the members of NGO, lawyers and students on the rules of applying to European Court in the frame of the proyect “Defending Human Rights and Building Civil Society” funded by NED at the “Transrerency International Azerbaijan” Anti-Corruption Public Association office in Lankaran, 20 persons representing NGO sektor were participating in the training.  
The main aim of the training is to choose young human rights defenders among the members of NGO and to educate them. The training nas directed by “Legal Help” PU’s president Ilgar Gasimov. more

“Legal Help” PU held a training in Lankaran State University and office “Transparency - Azerbaijan” about non-commercial law

On 27.02.2008, the “Legal Help” public union held the first one-day training for the students of Humanitarian faculty of Lankaran State University and 25. 02. 2008 office “Transparency Azerbaijan”  on “Defending Human Rights and Building Civil Society” project financed by National Endowment for Democracy. More than 80 students have participated in the training. more

 Presentation of the book "A Guide to non-profit-organizations"

On 24 January, 2008 at the Legal Help PU's office in Lankaran was held the presentation of the book "a Guide to non-profit-organizations" published in the frame of the project "Defending Human Rights and Building Civil Society" financed by NED. more
 

 The project had been implemented successfully in Jil municipality

Starting from August, 2007 "Legal Help" PU was carrying out the project on Civic Engagement in the area of Jil municipality which had been chosen as a partner. The project intended to conduct activities such as to organize box of suggestions for the development of the dialogue between municipality, government and citizens and to publish municipality bulletins. In early August the staff of "Legal Help" PU who are working on Civil Society Project had placed box of suggestions in four areas of the municipality.  more

"Legal Help" PU brought local NGOs together in Lenkoran

On September 8, 2007 "Legal Help" PU organized roundtable in order to discuss the problems hindering the development of NGO sector in the region and to prepare their action plan to solve these problems in the future bringing NGO members together
The main aim of this roundtable was to assemble NGO and CBO members to discuss existing problems reviewing future plans and to exchange opinions on how to deal with difficulties and to carry out action plan together. more

 

On August 11, 2007 "Legal Help" PU held the seminar about Harm Reduction program in its Lankaran office

15 members of NGOs working in Lankaran participated in the seminar. The president of the "Legal Help" PU Ilgar Gasimov talked about the "Law clinic" for Drug addiction and Harm Reduction project of Open Society Institute-Assistant Fund implementing by "Legal Help" PU, and gave wide information about HIV/ AIDS, harm reduction, and risk groups. more

Discussions on the edict of the president of the Azerbaijani Republic

On September 21, 2007 "Legal Help" PU held meeting together with the National NGO Forum in the restaurant Dalga on the discussion of the president's edict related to the Conception of Government Support to NGOs signed on July 27, 2007.  The number of participants was 51 including members of different NGOs in the Southern region of the country and media. more

 Preparing project applications

On July 23-25,2007 in the conference hall of resource center of Legal Help PU was held 3-day training on "Project planning and preparing of project applications" in the frame of Civil Society Project carried out by Counterpart International Organization with the USAID's support.
The main aims of this training, writing "successful projects" which are one of the important factors in the development of financial sustainability of NGOs, the principles of writing project applications, explanation of the aims of written projects, preparation of executive plans for projects, evaluation of project results and other important issues were explained to participants. more

Next meeting in the partner municipality area

On August 8, 2007 "Legal Help" PU had held a meeting with the people living in the area of Jil municipality within the frame of Civic Engagement Program of Counterpart International. The participants included both old and young people and educated people of the village.
The main objective of the meeting was to inform people about the newly organized "suggestions box" placed in the four parts of the area to put letters, suggestions complaints or any other ideas covering social, economical, cultural, educational and other spheres of the village. more
