“Legal Help” PU held a training in Lankaran
State University.
 
On 10. 29. 2008, the “Legal Help” public union
held the first one-day training for the students
of Humanitarian faculty of Lankaran State
University on “Defending Human Rights and
Building Civil Society” project financed by
National Endowment for Democracy. More than 100
students have participated in the training.
Main goal of the seminar was to held
enlightenment event about human rights for
interested organizations and individuals in LSU,
situtated in South region of Azerbaijan
Republic, teaching of local, regional and
international mechanisms of human rights
protection, training of young human rights
protectors and assisting them with networking.

On October 27, 2008 “Legal Help” public union
held one-day seminar within its “Enlightenment
of human rights” project financed by the
National Endowment Democracy (NED) for
representatives of 3rd wave generation, lawyers
and associates of law machinery in Astara.30

“Legal Help” PU held the traning on the rules of
applying to European Court
  On
aprel 14, “Legal Help” PU held the training for
the members of NGO, lawyers and students on the
rules of applying to European Court in the frame
of the proyect “Defending Human Rights and
Building Civil Society” funded by NED at the
“Transrerency International Azerbaijan”
Anti-Corruption Public Association office in
Lankaran, 20 persons representing NGO sektor
were participating in the training. The
main aim of the training is to choose young
human rights defenders among the members of NGO
and to educate them. The training nas directed
by “Legal Help” PU’s president Ilgar Gasimov.

  On
27.02.2008, the “Legal Help” public union held
the first one-day training for the students of
Humanitarian faculty of Lankaran State
University and 25. 02. 2008 office “Transparency
Azerbaijan” on “Defending Human Rights and
Building Civil Society” project financed by
National Endowment for Democracy. More than 80
students have participated in the training.

"Legal
Help" Public Union
The Legal Help public union
was founded by Ilgar Gasimov and other lawyers
in Lankaran, Azerbaijan in June 2003. The
organization was officially registered as a
non-governmental organization by the Ministry of
Justice on 31.07.2004. "Legal Help" PU operates
under the authority of the Constitution and NGO
laws.
The
mission of the Union:
Promote democratic and rule of law values in
Azerbaijan and a healthier civil society and
defend basic human rights and freedoms.
Duties of Union:
Educate the public in
democratic values and obligations, increase
legal and political awareness, establish
increased local rule, promote transparent and
regular elections, and support traditionally
unrepresented groups, including refugees, the
handicapped, and orphans.

Presentation of the book

 On
24 January, 2008 at the Legal Help PU's
office in Lankaran was held the presentation of the book
"a Guide to non-profit-organizations"
published in the frame of the project
"Defending Human Rights and Building Civil
Society" financed by NED.

Our activity
"Legal Help" public union is
one of eight Support NGOs across the country for
USAID's Civil Society Project, a five-year
initiative implemented by Counterpart
International in partnership with the Urban
Institute and the International Center for
Not-for-Profit Law.
As an implementing partner of Civil Society
Project for the Lenkoran service area, "Legal
Help" public union is building capacity to
provide a broad range of resources and services
to NGOs, community-based organizations, media,
private sector, and local government. "Legal
Help" PU has made some successes on this
direction. Such as lately new NGO called
"Contribution to Education" has passed the state
registration of the Ministry of Justice and this
can be considered as one of the best successes.
